Being abroad without roaming active prevents you having mobile network coverage.

Lack of mobile network coverage causes an inability to use your phone for network-based services - calls, texts & mobile data.

This is why travelling abroad without enabling roaming causes a catch-22 situation in how you resolve it. Contacting CS via another means such as already suggested, is one way to break this catch-22.

Welcome to the community,

Are you on pay as you go or contract with EE?

If on contract did you enable roaming on your account?

If you have something like Skype, you can ring customer service for free:

What you may have included in your monthly plan is a billing add-on which reduces the cost of roaming. What you need to roam is the facility being enabled, for which there is no charge - without this, your phone won't connect to foreign networks thus causing a "no coverage" scenario abroad.

Did you text ROAMING to 150 before leaving the UK?

I did not text 150 as I thought it was automatic like Vodafone. And now I can’t send it. Is there a way do do this remotely online?
