People calling your EE number are calling a UK number and will be charged accordingly. Same goes for sending texts to you - they are texting a UK number, not a US number.

Receiving text messages is free globally, regardless of billing add-on or otherwise.

Receiving calls whilst roaming is chargeable, but covered by the Roam Abroad pass in the US.

I have spoken with EE customer service and they have confirmed that while in the USA with a Roaming Pass the following applies:

data allowance the same as in the EE UK contract
calls and texts to the UK the same as per contract, hence if unlimited here, they remain unlimited.

And also:
calls and texts WITHIN the USA to third parties are also free as per contract in the UK

And, crucially, not mentioned in the correspondence:
calls and texts by third parties in the UK AND the USA to my UK number are also free.

The last part is really important because third parties in the in USA may be put off phoning a UK number being concerned about international charges. It's good to be able to reassure them that is not the case and by calling my UK number while I am in the USA is free to them and me.

I would like someone to confirm for me that my understanding is correct, especially the last part, since I got this information from EE customer service on the phone and there is no way I can find of seeing it in writing.

Untrue! There's a FUP 0f 50 GB data when roaming on contract.

@Michae6491 wrote:

Not true! EE roaming rules can't possibly be applied to third parties in the in USA & their networks. They will be charged by their networks at their normal International Calls tariffs. Only you will not be charged for receiving their calls.

So your reply makes sense but contradicts what I was told by the EE
customer service agent.
It would be so much more helpful if EE could present all the options for
full clarity.
Thanks
Michael 6491

I'm not aware of anywhere that EE claims calls from a US-registered phone to a UK-registered phone, are anything other than international.

If a CS agent claimed this, that would be a training issue.
