I am also travelling in US and has been fine for the past week but today I’ve had many hours where my phone is just spooling - no maps, no internet, no messages or WhatsApp. Hugely frustrating.

Can you manually try searching for other networks, do any show available to try and see if this works for you?

thanks so much for your response. I did try changing networks a few times as we were driving yesterday but none had any signal. The EE roaming problem does seem to have been sorted in the meantime though and it seems to be working okay for now.
