Hopefully someone can help.
I am in Vietnam and traveling thru Asia.
I have got myself a E Sim so that I can use data without racking up massive charges, however I some of my apps have the Two Factor Authentication (2FA) activated.
I cannot receive text messages as I have turned off roaming to prevent being charge from EE.

Is there a way of enabling my phone so that I can receive texts from my EE plan without incurring huge roaming costs. ?

Texts are free to receive anyway as long as roaming has been enabled on your a/c, usually by texting ROAMING to 150 while in UK. Ensure data roaming is OFF on your phone & VM is switched off. Just don't make or answer any calls.

The eSIM is still a SIM, and has no bearing on the charges you could incur.

To receive text messages requires a mobile network connection, and when abroad this is called roaming. The reply above covers the rest of the query.

I agree the implication is that the eSIM is local eSIM, but this is not explicit in the OP's message.

Many issues arise with roaming especially, because of unclear terminology and pertinent facts left to implication. The OP's query appears to have been answered, which is the important thing.
