Data roaming

So I have a Samsung A33 5G dual sim phone, when I go to Spain i have started to use a Movistar sim as I can use all the data and not be capped. But I also need to keep my uk EE sim active as this is my contact number for JET2 etc etc. If I turn data roaming off in settings so I do not get any charges with the EE sim it also switched off the data roaming on the whole phone not just the individual sim. I am assuming I need data roaming on for the Movistar sim to access data.

Or do I buy a cheap 4g brick just to put my EE sim in and turn data roaming off on this phone only, just so Jet2 can make any contact - it would be just a call or text as I can retrieve emails via the Movistar sim.

Welcome to the EE Community.

Are you aware if you have roaming enabled on your EE account? if roaming is not enabled you will not be able to use any of your service this means it is not required for your phones roaming settings to be switched off too.

@Tugger4me : If you use your EE SIM for anything other than receiving texts you will be charged £2.29 for each day if on contract. Data roaming settings on your device have nowt to do with it.

All I want the EE sim for while abroad is to receive calls and texts, but do not want it doing anything else involving data in the background.

I have roaming enabled on the EE account, but do not the phone using any data abroad, only need to receive calls and texts for emergencies.

You'll be able to receive calls but it'll cost you. As long as your device has data roaming disabled you can't use data.

Data roaming simply means using data whilst roaming. To explain in similar terms, text message roaming is free for incoming but chargeable outgoing. Voice call roaming is chargeable for outgoing & incoming.
