Calls to a French number are barred - why? The number is not blocked

When trying to call a friend in France, I get the verbal message "calls to this number are barred from your phone". As the number is not blocked, I cannot understand why this is happening. Can anyone help?

Do you know if you have an international bar/spend cap on your account?

Many thanks for trying to help. To answer your questions:-

1. Yes I was trying to call from the UK.

2.As far as I know, I do NOT have an international bar on my account nor
do I have a spend cap.

Out of interest, how do check if either of the points in (2) above are
in place?

You can check if you have a spend cap within your My EE account under Plans & Subscriptions.

Our customer care team on 150 will be able to confirm if you have a bar on your account for international calling.
