Best Roaming option for trip to France

Hi All,

I'm off to France in September for around 6 weeks. In the past my contract included EU roaming but now this has changed. I have seen the £2.49 per day charge but wonder if there is a better/cheaper way to do this?

@Vennwood : You may use your usual UK allowances in the EU with up to 50 GB (contract) or 25 GB (PAYG) data per billing month if you have more. If on contract & your contract started after 07/07/2021 there'll be a £2.29 / day charge for using your UK allowances in EU or alternatively you may buy the Roam Abroad Pass for £15 / month.

Remember to text ROAMING to 150 before you leave UK to ensure roaming is enabled on your account.

Hi @Vennwood

If you are looking into it, you can buy the Roam Abroad Pass by texting ROAMING PASS to 150.

It is also worth mentioning that it is a monthly recurring add on, so you will need to cancel it as soon as you return to the UK by texting STOP ROAMING PASS to 150.

£15 per month is better than £2.29 per day. So sad that after years of "negotiating" we finally got EU roaming included only to have it taken away again. I don't understand why either as some providers include it. Oh well....

@Vennwood , that has all to do with Brexit, which I warned so many people about, that this would happen, if people had not voted for Brexit, then this would not have happened. Interesting what people say about it in other countries, was in Germany and so know what people think there.

Totally agree. Brexit has completely screwed us. Like you we campaigned against leaving - all the reasons were rubbish - "sovereignty, blue passports, loads of trade deals etc." Our family live in France and we were about to move there but that's all changed. I could go on and on but no doubt there are still a few with their heads in the sand.

@Vennwood , we lived in Switzerland, was born there, my brother still lives there, I have also lived in Germany, was there again for two weeks holiday, no idea what people were thinking, only 52% voted for Brexit, so only a small majority, which I told people in Germany, now many seem to have changed their minds and want back in, if that ever happens!

It would also have been nice if EE and the other networks had been honest about it too, and just told the truth that they will do everything they can to charge more if they can get away with it.

EE are currently pushing to change net neutrality rules which will not benefit the customer at all. It's all about providing less for more.
