Using phone abroad

I recently went on holiday to Spain and received no text messages from EE on arrival in the country, in fact received no contact at all. I could only access my device for phones, texts and whatsapp if I was connected to WiFI. This hasn't happened previously. Can you explain why this happened and if there's anything I need to do to correct it?

I go to Portugal next week and was wondering if I needed to do anything with my phone to make it work while I'm over there

Hi @Naida1 and @adam_scott7

Please both text ROAMING to 150. This will make sure your phone is set up for international roaming, The 'welcome' message is triggered when your phone connects to a network outside of the UK. Since you didn't get one, it is probably down to your phone not connecting.

Please take a look at our roaming costs page as well, so that you know what to expect when you get there.

To add to this, if you don't enable international roaming before leaving the UK, your phone won't connect to foreign networks.

That will cause a catch-22 situation and leave you off-service unless you contact CS by other means.

Hi Chris we are currently in Greece and I set up roaming on my sons phone back in the uk but since arriving my son has no phone or internet his phone won’t connect to any local network

Could you try manually searching for a Greek network provider in your son's phone settings?

I am already in Madeira. Before I left I text roaming but now I have arrived I have no signal is there anything I can do to rectify this?

Did you text ROAMING to 150? or did you purchase a roaming pass?

Have you tried manually connecting to another available network?
