Why can’t I make calls in the US when I’ve had an add on further roaming add on

The Roam Further pass is just a billing add-on, it doesn't enable the international roaming facility. It is this which enables your phone to connect to foreign networks, which in turn allows you to make & receive calls & texts over that mobile network connection.

Did you enable roaming by texting ROAMING to 150 before leaving the UK?

I’m in the states at the moment , had further roaming add on and I can’t make phone calls or text , can only contact others in my party using WhatsApp and iMessage via my data .

Returning home now so have been 9 days without being able to call or text anyone

Of course I activated my roaming and went into my online account to do everything

@Jill52 : Of course? You cannot currently activate roaming via your online a/c. It has to be done by texting ROAMING to 150 while in UK or by calling CS.

Of course I did , I’m not stupid , when I arrive in the US even had a text message to say welcome and saying with the go further add on I could make calls and texts in the untitled states , but absolutely nothing other than using my data , to contact the people I’m with here in America .
Everything turned on before coming here

That's just a billing add-on to help you pay for your services while roaming when your a/c is enabled to roam, but it doesn't of itself allow you to roam.

I can only send text via iMessage , no calls , no texts , only data and yes I did turn roaming on before leaving the UK and yes I did text roaming to 150 in the UK , even had a text message off EE welcome to America, after that no calls , no texts ( only via iMessage ) . Go further add is a waste of money .

If you received a welcome text and are able to use mobile data - then you must have had a mobile network connection.

In order for that to work, international roaming must be enabled.

Your issue may therefore have been an international call bar. The Roam Further pass is an excellent offer, but is purely a billing add-on and is separate from ensuring the roaming & international calling facilities are active.

see these posts. Something to do with handset compatibility with the ATT network. ATT only allows specific models to use Volte in their network.

Texts via iMessage aren't actually texts but just data.

Just to check, did you text ROAMING to 150 while in UK or was it ROAMING PASS to 150? They have diff. functions & effects (stupidly IMHO!).
