Can't select data roaming spain

Hi,

I have arrived in Spain but can't select data roaming on my phone to enable calls and messages. I can use what's app but not normal messenger.

I just get the error message below when I'm trying to select data roaming in the settings. I have tried using the device guide and my EE but nothing working. I'm a paymonthly customer. Help is appreciated

What happens if you hit 'OK'? Have you tried restarting your phone?

Hi thanks for replying, nothing changes if I select ok, it just goes back to the turn data roaming on and the same box. Restarted a few times. I'm just hoping I'm not being charged anymore with me only having what's app to use

Did you activate roaming before travelling by texting ROAMING to 150?

Data is not needed to make voice calls, only to use internet-based functions.

It is roaming that enables your phone to connect to foreign networks, and if you don't have coverage of a local network - this is likely what's missing.

Data roaming just refers to using data over a roaming network, but voice calls don't use data.
