There's valid marketing reasons for such calls in converting the customer experience but find the selling of numbers of customer details not transparent or accountable at all. My number is registered on the TPS register opting out of such marketing calls but just received 8 missed calls from them within a minute or so. Poor reflection on EE itself even if a partner of theirs.

Has anyone else been getting calls from this number ? I’ve checked online and most people regard it as a nuisance call whilst a few say it’s genuine, the caller claims to be from EE and states that she wants to help me get the most from account in terms of prizes etc.

I received a call from this number at 13:36 today. For supposed security reasons they asked how much my last top up was made and how I made payment, which is what EE asked when I last spoke to them a week or so ago. I told them but realised it might not be EE and made my excuses and left the call. I then found this web-link explaining it may be a scam.

I just got a call from this number to a PAYG line that I'm discontinuing, so it makes sense that EE would want to sign me up for a contract rather than lose me.

However, since it's a number that has been given to nobody and the call came from a number that I don't know (I don't think I know anyone from Wigan), I didn't answer it and googled the number instead, hence ending up here.

What these companies don't seem to realise is that (presumably) anyone in this specific situation - PAYG line from which a call hasn't been made or a text message sent in months - DOES NOT WANT a contract. Phoning to try and sucker the mark into one is NOT GOING TO WORK. If anything, it's going to ensure that the victim never deals with EE again.

If I want/need something, I'll go out and look for it. I'm not suddenly going to have an epiphany and realise that I need a mobile contract on the strength of a company I don't know calling on behalf of a network operator whose services I am abandoning because I know that I no longer need them.
