sorry I posted before I asked the question…

I was in the Far East last week and people from the UK were calling me not realising I was abroad. I didn’t answer any of the calls but a couple left VM’s.

I have checked my bill and nothing seems to be on it.

Could anyone advise please.

You'll be charged at the call rate but it might take time to filter thro'.

Can I block callers calling me whilst I am abroad otherwise I could get a large unwanted bill

@Bolt12 Turn off your voicemail before you leave the UK. VM OFF to 150.

Charges incurred on EE's UK network whilst you're roaming should be applied to your bill as quickly as any other charge, the incoming leg of roaming calls should appear promptly.

Charges incurred by roaming networks may indeed take some time to appear - in many cases the double-billing of missed calls is not always true anymore.

That said, disabling your voicemail is the only way to be completely sure.

@Bolt12 Not sure if you’re being sarcastic or not as sarcasm doesn’t really work in text form. If you don’t want people calling you when you are out of the UK you leave the device in airplane mode/or switch it off.

You can not stop someone calling you if your device is available to receive calls as it’s doing exactly what it is designed to do and the best you can do while still being network connected is to turn voicemail off and this is recommended as you’ll be charged for an international call if a voicemail is left as the voicemail server is in the UK and your device is diverting that call back to the UK (charge) and if you call your voicemail to listen to that voicemail you’ll be charged again to listen as it’s an international call.

this doesn’t apply to the EU if you have the roam further pass and that pass also includes the USA,Canada/Mexico,Australia and New Zealand.
