will not connect to phones

after recent start to new contract my phone will not connect to certain numbers which i had no problems with on my old contract.The sim card has not been changed.

The message i get is that phone cannot connect to this network, i have to phone this number via watts app which works no problem, so can someone explain why i cannot get through to a number on a different network.

Are the numbers standard UK mobile numbers?

What is the full message you hear when attempting to call them?

Is there any pattern to the numbers you can't call - particular operators, for example?

Can you call landlines OK?
