VPN Call Charges

Something just occurred to me. Assume you have a UK mobile phone contract and maintain a VPN on it with an IP address in another country. If you make a UK phone call or download data ... are you doing so at national call charges within the UK or as an international call rates from the designated VPN country?

@Bill66 Your calls are not via the VPN. your data allowance is for UK usage and your in the UK even if the VPN isn’t as you are connected to the EE network in order to use data. That data connection then goes through the VPN server but you’re still first connected with EEs network which is in the UK. This also applies to Wi-Fi calling.
