Please explain 'roaming' in simple terms !

I have an EE £1 Talk Pack.

If I go abroad, let's say to Spain, how do I get my phone to work there ?

Do I just set my phone to enable roaming ? or .........

Do I have to buy a 'roaming' pack or add-on ? (or is roaming included in my current £1 Talk Pack?)

If I have to purchase a roaming pack or add-on, how do I do this ?

Sorry if I sound a bit simple but I'm finding the site guides and community answers a bit confusing and/or vague. Please explain everything in simple, layman's terms !

Hi there,

So as far as I'm aware (and someone will correct me if I'm wrong), EE still offer roaming in the European Union to prepaid customers without any additional charges.

This means the prices you would be charged in the UK and/or the allowances available to you in the bundle(s) you purchase also work in the EU.

Roaming as a service is activated by default on prepaid accounts. You will have had to have used your EE service in the UK before travelling (this is a message aimed at people who try to activate service for the first time when abroad).

The only function you'd need to enable on your handset is data roaming (this is sometimes toggled to off by default).

Other than that, you should be good to go.

@_MrR_ , you do mean pay as you go customers, then yes, nothing has changed as yet, it is contract customers where it has changed if their contract started on or after 7th July 2021.
