Distorted phone calls

Hi, I have an iPhone 12 and my partner has an iPhone 13 pro max both on ee. When we call each other, the calls connect fine, but then speech is distorted and finally goes silent. Doesn't happen with other calls, just his. Any suggestions folks?

Welcome to the community.

Are you both connected to WiFi when this happens? Could you test both whilst connected to WiFi and not connected to WiFi, just to see if it makes a difference please?

Yes we are both connected to wifi - but we are both connected all the time and it’s only our phones that are affected. Maybe he is trying to tell me something

Also, it may be worth making sure both of your phones are on the latest software.
