Not receiving SMS text messages in Saudi Arabia

I have downloaded the Saudi version of the NHS covid pass this is called Tawakklna. When I enter my details I am supposed to receive a text (SMS) of a verification code but it is not coming through. I tried using the Tawakklna app and website and the text message is not coming. I called their helpline and they said something is wrong with the EE SIM card. I use a pay monthly SIM card. So how do I receive text messages. The network on my phone changed from EE to STC KSA when I arrived.

Please advise.

Hi @Yashas21 ,

Has your EE SIM successfully connected to a local network provider?

Is that SIM able to make and receive calls, and send and receive texts on the local provider's network?

Does "Tawakklna" (I copied and pasted this) support international mobile numbers?

Did you specify the international dialling prefix +44 for the EE SIM and remove the initial zero?

@Yashas21 Your going to have to make sure call abroad premium rate numbers is enable within your account you’ll be charged to receive the message from them as it will be a international in coming text.

you need to open the my EE app and click the 3 lines top left then

click settings then click restrictions then select call abroad and make premium rate calls. It’ll probably be best to restart your device and allow up to 24 hours for this to filter through.

my daughter has the same problem done all the above two days ago and spoke to EE and still not working

Have you checked with the Saudi Arabian authorities that they are able to send the verification text to overseas mobile numbers?

Was the text received as an SMS or over a data connection via an app, such as iMessage if you are iPhone users?

Were you able to receive the verification text successfully last year?
