We've just signed up to EE 4G wifi because we've moved to a property without any cabled internet, so didn't have a choice.

Everything is fine - speed it great, and it's all working perfectly.

EXCEPT my son can't connect to it on his PS5 or through Fortnite on his PC. I've not seen anything anywhere within the actual EE information saying that this is not allowed, so why are these things blocked? I've got a very upset child at the moment and absolutely nothing we can do about it. Now that I know it's an issue, I can see other people having the same problem.

Is there any work around to this??

You are probably finding yourself up against a limitation of EE's mobile network. The EE mobile network uses Carrier Grade NAT (CGNAT) resulting in a double NAT, which games consoles often object to, which means you don't get your own public IP address but share it with other users. So you can't be uniquely id'ed on the Net & therefore your LAN cannot be addressed from outside for unsolicited accesses. This is unlike fixed BB.

If this occurs there is nowt you can do to avoid it.

IMHO EE the mobile network is not really suitable for gaming.

It connects to the router, but then it says that it can’t actually connect to the internet. Also on to here PC, it connects fine, along with internet, but then the game itself claims there’s an issue with the network, so presumably the same apparent block that the PS5 is getting.

This is factually wrong, there is a very easy fix for this and it is nothing to do with the NAT type. It's to do with the IP address, and the issue is perfectly and very easily fixable. Please delete your comment as whether intentional or not, it represents misinformation that will lead people to misunderstand their situation.

Hello, I know you probably won't see this as this thread is quite old. But there is actually a very easy fix to this problem I discovered while in a very similar situation myself. It is not unfixable as another commenter has suggested, and if you are still on these forums, I can provide a step by step guide on how to fix it if you reply to me

Why? I've had the same problem as this gentleman and been in the exact same situation, I was messed around by EE support and discouraged by your comment. But I found an incredibly easy fix that your comment actively discourages people from attempting to pursue by pushing the misinformation that the PS5 doesn't connect to a 4G router. The actual problem is that the PS5 doesn't recognise the new IPV6 IP format that the 4G router uses, so you need to go through a simple 2 step process to change the settings and it works.

The router doesn't issue IPv6 IPs to any devices; only IPv4 internal private IPs. The only IPv6 IP in sight is the external "public" IP of the router itself & a PS5 can't see that. You're on the wrong track.

- Go to your router login portal, head to settings and find profile settings. Can't remember where it is off the top of my head but it's quite easy to find.

- Create a new profile, give it a custom name and set the IP settings on the drop down menu to IpV4 instead of IpV6, the rest of the details remain the same as the default profile.

- Set that profile as default, and restart the router. After turning it back on your PS5 should work

Hope that helps!
