Cant use my Data Tether for certain online games

Title says it really. When using my data (which I always use due to a poor home connection) I cant start downloads on certain apps (some on steam and epic games store) without first connecting with home wifi then using data.

I cant use Voip in most online games, not allowing me to talk or listen to other players, very frustrating overall.

Any ideas as to what I need to enable/disable here? Tried parent lock features to no avail.

Are you able to do everything else using mobile data tethering?

Is it just gaming that you're having trouble with?

I'm able to use it for everything else. So work, music, videos, streaming
services, other downloads. No issues with those
