When I upgraded I got the Xbox bundle which came with 24 month game pass ultimate free,but now am receiving emails from Microsoft saying please update payment details,slightly confused

It's either a phishing attempt or you have auto renewal/no payment option selected to buy add-ons.

Log into your Microsoft account and check.
