Can’t hear people/ they can’t hear me on home phone

People can ring the EE house phone but I can’t hear them speaking or they cannot hear me?
when I dial out on the house phone it doesn’t have a dial tone?

need help please?

Where is the digital phone connected to?

It is connected to a EE home phone adapter, the home phone itself is a normal cordless phone not a digital phone. It was working for the 1st week of service as received numerous calls in which I could hear and they could hear me?
