I have contacted EE to set up the home phone line when I move in a couple of weeks. Very easy to talk to on the phone and sort things out.
however, I have looked the the email regarding the move and it has my new address down, and then it says that they are happy to say that I can keep my old house phone telephone number……….but, I am moving from the STD code 01557 to another area where the STD code is 01556.
so how can I keep the exact number? They have actually quoted on the paper work that I can keep my present number 01557331***. How can that be or is it different now that things are digital?
is it better to telephone them after new year to query this?

If you’ve got this far and have understood what I am going on about…..thank you 😊

I am moving soon and have experienced something similar. When I moved the broadband, mobile and home phone packages, I was told that I should get an email giving me my new home phone number. No email came, so I chased via 150 today. Now I am told that I shall not be having a new number - it is not necessary with a digital system. But, I would like a number which begins with the same exchange number as everyone else in the area. There may be occasions when having an exchange number which is about 90 miles away from the local area looks suspicious. Online, EE says very little about moving with a home phone. Does anyone have any idea what I can do to get a new 'local' number please?
