How to switch to incoming call on second phone

We have two home phones. Occasionally, when answering a call on one phone, the other phone will ring. How do I switch to the second call?

Welcome to the community.

It sounds to me like that second phone isn't ringing because there is a new call coming through. It sounds like it is not recognising that the call has been answered already on the other device.

Which model of landline phones are you using?

Hi there.

Perhaps I could have made myself clearer. Having answered a call on the first phone, another call comes through on the second phone (in another room). I did say that the second phone WAS ringing. I want to answer the new call on the first phone. I presume this would end the call on the first phone.

The phones are standard EE Home Phones - is there more than one model?

@JTGray Not sure if you can put the call on hold and answer the second one, that is not what the system is meant for. Link to the user manual is below! Page 23 multi call.

@JTGray Thanks for clarifying, if you get a second call coming in whilst on a call with your current phone, then effectively call waiting will just kick in, so you should hear the call waiting alert on your call. So you should get an option of switch or reject on the phone you are using.

Switch will put your current call on hold whilst you answer the second call or you can reject and send it to voicemail.

Only difference with multi call, where your line is capable of having two calls going at the same time, is you or someone else can choose to answer on your other handset without having to put the call on your first handset on hold.

Thanks for the advice everyone. And the links to the online user manual. Some of those helped, and some didn't! I have been using an EE version of the manual, which did not really help. One of the links was to a BT version, which contained much more information, in a different format, and pages numbered differently. So a little confusing! But I got there in the end! Now I know what I should do - when the need arises again!
