topic House Move in Digital Home Phone

I have contacted EE to set up the home phone line when I move in a couple of weeks. Very easy to talk to on the phone and sort things out.
however, I have looked the the email regarding the move and it has my new address down, and then it says that they are happy to say that I can keep my old house phone telephone number……….but, I am moving from the STD code 01557 to another area where the STD code is 01556.
so how can I keep the exact number? They have actually quoted on the paper work that I can keep my present number 01557331***. How can that be or is it different now that things are digital?
is it better to telephone them after new year to query this?

If you’ve got this far and have understood what I am going on about…..thank you 😊

@MichelleJG With digital it is easier to keep the phone number as long as OR do not enforce an exchange code, but if you wish to have a local area code then call EE CS and see what number's are available to you.

With the new DV there is NO local calling feature, you always have to use the full STD dialling code every time.
