You can't stop 1571 but you can lengthen the time it takes before it it picks up the call so your own ansaphone can grab it 1st. It's under Personal Options > Calling Options.

Hello everyone,

I have tried various methods to switch off EE's 1571 answerphone. We have local answerphone on bt4600 base unit. which is sufficient for us.

We don't really need things like call waiting etc, all we need is phone, contacts, answer phone and call barring of some sort.

Tried setting rings (answer delay) to long (10) on 1571 and 5 on bt4600, checked diverts on bt4600, are none. Appears system resets 1571 to medium!!

Has anyone switched off EE's 1571?

Has anyone seen instructions by EE on how to do this?

Perhaps I haven't looked in right place

Thanks for your assistance.

If its NOT possible, can someone say so.

Regards

Well I think I have good news for anyone who is experiencing the automatic 1571 answer machine on EE Landlines. After months of banging my head against a brick wall, I today spoke to a lovely chap called Gavin from EE's Executive Complaints Department in Newcastle. He knew exactly what I was talking about & that I wanted the 1571 answer phone removed, he stopped the Call Protect Service on my Landline and after a few days of testing I think he has cracked it! Apparently the 1571 answer machine is part of the Call Protect Service. I have asked him to pass this information to all EE Customer Service staff to save time and frustration for all involved. I hope this information helps anyone else & good luck!

Great, but how the hell do I access any messages left for me. I come home after a few days away . Pick up the phone and hear an intermittent ringtone. Learnt that means I have a message. How do I access it. No idea. Then half hour later I get a call showing my number, You have a message Wow.

useless system. Give me an old BT phone over this VOIP rubbish which is counter-intuitive.

Search answerphone, etc. get no sensible answer.

Must change service provider ASAP

Thanks, never found that on FAQs !

It also assumes, incorrectly, that I have a digital home phone.ie

>>Your Digital Home Phone handset's display will show you how many new Voicemail messages you have.<<

I have a conventional landline phone with a functional answerphone.

Hi

I just called EE CS and they say they have just turned the voice mail facility off - I will know in 24 hours if it worked. They also offered to turn Call protect off as well if wanted.

Fingers crossed
