Is it possible to have DV over FTTC or even ADSL? The VoIP signals can still come over copper to the home & all it would need is simple modem router with an integrated DECT base station &/or a phone socket.

Hey there @XRaySpeX!

My understanding was that all new home phone connections taken will be via Digital Voice, and this will be supported on all broadband types

I've run a check of a family member's address where FTTC is the only service available, and this was the option that was offered.

Peter

Standard PCM channels used in the PSTN network are 64Kbps so carrying that even on slower ASDL is easily possible, the challenge come with prioritising voice traffic over anything else to give acceptable quality is the challenge.

BT/Openreach have already converted a number of lines around the country from the old PSTN to DV, must pay a visit to a mate who has it done to see the details.

This site is helpful https://landlinesgo.digital/

If anything it may actually get better with everyone kind of moving to fibre will free up some of the bandwidth.
