I received a random text from EE, “Hi from EE. Your Pin is 9521. If you’re not currently discussing your account with us, please call 0800 079 8586. Thanks”

I was concerned because it sounded like someone was trying to access my account, I didn’t click on the link, I called them and they said there has been no activity on my account and nothing to worry about, it was probably just a “ Generic text “

The text was sent from EE’s normal stream, although I know scammers can disguise this, would the phone link 0800 079 8586 have sent me to the scammers?

If it was EE just sending a “Generic text” then I think it’s quite confusing in this day and age of scams.

Hey there @Mccster

Welcome to the EE Community.

I've double checked and this id definitely an official number that you can use to contact our team.

It's always best to err on the side of caution with these things though, so if you're ever unsure it never hurts to give us a call direct on 150 and our team will be happy to take a look.
