In April 2026 sadly our daughter passed away after a long 2.5 year battel with cancer. The only thing that kept her going the last 6 months was a dongol my friend bought that allowed her to stay connected with and play games with her friends online. EE was the only network powerful enough to enable her to do this in the hospital. So in her name we have set up the Iona Sunshine Fund. to help children in similar circumstances to maintain social connection with family and friends online by availability of enhanced wifi. Team Jak is administering this fund which allows isolated in-patients to join with the world beyond the confines of their hospital bed.

Please help us to help these children by making a small donation here! If EE could help it would be great.

All proceeds donated go straight to support the purchase of dongols! Ignore the examples of other great work Team Jak can do with donations. This fund is only for the purchase of dongols to help young people with cancer stay connected online.

have created this special fund in memory of my angel with wings, Iona. To donate please follow the link. I would also love it if someone from EE was to get in touch.

Team Jak: The Iona Sunshine Fund

Iona's Story!

Iona was diagnosed in 2024 with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL) at age 6. Her treatment should have finished in early 2026, however she was diagnosed with a second, extremely rare malignancy, Histiocytic Sarcoma, in the autumn of 2025. Iona endured long months of treatment as an in-patient. She died following complications of a stem cell transplant in April 2026.

Iona was always a happy girl, always smiling and so full of life. As her physical world became more restricted due to long hospital stays in isolation, her love of dancing, music, and playing with friends as in-person connection was substituted by social connection playing games with family and friends online. She was only able to maintain these outside connections through the medium of a dongle purchased by a family friend.
