Hello all,

A family member has a Samsung S25 and randomly maybe 8-10 months ago the phone started acting up while on cellular network.

I spent some time looking at it this evening and still haven’t got any closer to solving the problem.

The problem is inconsistent- some web pages work e.g Google.com and gmail.com but YouTube.com and maps.google.com do not.

Her RCS messaging doesn’t work on cellular. I tried turning it off (restart phone) turn it back on and nothing. It shows it as connected. Works well on WiFi.

Her Google Play Store also won’t open while on cellular. Ive tried clearing the cache for both Google Play Store and Google Play Services and made no difference.

I considered parental controls and when checked I saw it was set to moderate so I set it to off. Restarted the phone and no difference. I also followed the advice in https://community.ee.co.uk/t5/Mobile-Data/No-Google-or-YouTube-since-change-to-EE-sim/td-p/1263761 and switched it from strict and then to off (with a restart in between) and nothing.

I also tried EE setup page but it doesn’t allow you to select a manufacturer. I also tried this in January 2026 and could see that had installed.

I have been to https://deviceguides.ee.co.uk/web/samsung/galaxy-s25-a and followed the APN settings. They don’t seem to save so I assume it doesn’t work. I followed the settings twice and got the same result.

I have tried manually entering the following APN which her phone was already using:

Setting

Value

Name

EE Internet

APN

everywhere

Username

eesecure

Password

secure

Authentication type

PAP

APN type

default,supl

APN protocol

IPv4/IPv6

MCC

234

MNC

30

I also tried changing the protocol to just IPv4 and made no difference.

Some other useful things to note:

VPN - set to none

Private DNS is set to automatic.

I did see she had an Ad Block installed and one of the first things I tried was uninstalling this.

I tried the solution in https://community.ee.co.uk/t5/Mobile-Data/Mobile-phone-data-does-not-work/m-p/1176653#M146933 by switching to manual network etc. and nothing.

It seems that she is not the only one according to https://community.ee.co.uk/t5/Mobile-Data/Apps-like-Youtube-and-Google-Maps-not-working-unless-I-am-on-VPN/td-p/1574413 but couldn’t seem to find a solution in there either. They did mention that an add on was removed but I’m unsure how that could be having an impact?!

Preferably I don’t want to reset her network settings without solid proof this will resolve the issue. I find it hard to believe that this would be the solution. As stated in the link above, this didn’t solve their issue. They also have Apple and experiencing the issue.

When she is on WiFi everything is ok. She said that if she repeatedly turns on and off her cellular it normally kicks itself into gear.

If anyone has experienced this and knows how to resolve it, I am all ears!

Thank you for your time 😊
