I am not able to use even 5GB because there is no signal where I live and so I use WiFi calling and WiFi data. My contract is coming to an end and I am being forced to choose a contract with more data.

This is a 30% increase.

I am not happy - I do not want to pay for 10GB. I would rather pay for 2, that's all I manage to use in a month.

To add insult to injury, when I press Choose this plan I am taken to a generic upgrade page where 10GB for £9 is not even an option. The cheapest is £10 - 45% over what I am paying at the moment.

Does anybody have a recommendation for a supplier with low data included? Must have the facility to do WiFi calling of course, none of the networks have any level of signal here. I used to have to walk up the garden to get anything. 2FA was a dead loss, mostly the prompt would expire before any SMS message arrived

Welcome to the community,

You do not have to upgrade, you should be able to keep the same plan, I would suggest speaking to customer service and let them know that you do not want to change your plan.

Thanks. I am coming to the end of a 2 year contract, currently at £6.88 per month, which the cost of has been increased twice (I think it started out as £5 for 5GB).

The wording of the text that arrived, and the page linked to from that, is that my plan is no longer supported. If I do nothing I will move to 30 day rolling at £12 pm for 10GB, or I can choose to upgrade. The upgrade options start at 10GB minimum.

@neutronwrangler It’s not just data that you paying for it’s also the unlimited calls/texts that the tariff gives you. You might not use the data allowance when at home but away from home you can. I get unlimited data because I have EE broadband I would never have a tariff that would give this because at best 40-50Gb will do me and I use wifi most of the time.

All I want is what I have now, for the same price, I have already had an
automatic increase above inflation a few months back.

Since I was forced off Plusnet mobile on to EE things have just got
increasingly expensive with added stuff I can't use

I've now moved to iDmobile

ID Mobile is a piggyback operator using the 3 network. If cost is your primary focus, then EE is rarely going to be the best choice.

Indeed, I prefer small companies fronting a larger network, they are much more reactive. Three has got a good rep and their coverage here is as good as anybody elses (ie not good but they offer WiFi calling). I was with Plusnet, piggybacking EE. When they shut down EE did a price match so I went there. Unfortunately today has brought me the realisation that EE don't care about me - it has taken me all day to find out that I can't find out why they offer me an Online Exclusive deal that does not exist.

I'm in the same situation as you. Ex Plusnet customer who moved onto the 5gb EE essentials tariff in 2024 for just £4 a month on a 30 day contract. It went up nearly 40% to £5.50 earlier this year and now they're telling me that the tariff is being withdrawn and replaced by either a £7 25gb plan on a 2 year contract, or a £9 20gb plan on a 30 day contract. Both of these would increase by £2.50 next March. If I take the £9 plan that'll be £11.50 next year, a 178% increase in 2 years.

Interestingly, I also have a 125gb plan with EE, but they're not relacing that one and won't let me change to the new 20gb or 25gb plans as they're less than the current £14.50 cost. Clearly they won't let me downgrade, only upgrade, so it's all about making more money out of you.
