@SiB999 If you only used 5Gb to watch a 4K YouTube clip then that’s low for 40 minutes as it’s around 14Gb per hour to watch in 4K and that’s what your device can output if you are watching in the highest resolution

Can you post a link to that clip ? I’ll like to see at what resolution this can be set too. As not all YouTube clips are output at 4K.

I’ve suddenly had exactly the same issue. I could watch Netflix, Prime, YouTube all the time and never went over 20gb from my 100gb allowance and was advised by EE when I upgraded my phone to the 15 pro max to drop to a 25gb contract as I’d never get near it with my usage. I watched FOUR tv episodes and almost blew my entire 25gb allowance!!! I’ve just watched a 40minite YouTube video and it’s used FIVE gb!!! FIVE!!!!

Why is my data suddenly being sucked up for watching the same amount as before my upgrade?

If your usage that high then you need an unlimited play.

That’s the entire point of what I’ve just posted! I watched MORE movies and tv pre upgrade on exactly the same platforms and they were fine and never took my data past 20gb. But POST upgrade I’ve literally only watched four episodes of a show from prime and it’s blown almost my entire 25gb of data.

my old job pre upgrade had lots of sitting around so I used to watch LOADS of movies and shows almost daily but Ive changed jobs and barely watch anything now. I was told when I upgraded that the 100gb allowance I had wasn’t available on the new upgrade deal but that on checking my usage I never used up more than 20gb a month so they would drop me to 25gb and I’d be fine.

Ok, no problem then. Yet the instant I watch the first few things since the upgrade my data is obliterated after watching just 4 shows! How can I use MORE data just watching 4 episodes than when I used to watch 2/3 movies in a single night and YouTube and shows DAILY for the entire month?

It suddenly seems like the data is being used up at triple the amount for the same usage 🤔

You've not answered what video resolution you're viewing at. This fundamentally matters towards data usage.

The video resolution can make the difference between ~1Gb/hour and ~7Gb/hour, which is not a million miles from the amounts you've quoted.

It’s always been max resolution nothings changed there. The resolution has nothing to do with it as it’s the same as before. I watch everything at its highest resolution, always have

Let's see the example videos as per Chris' request.
