Pay as you go data

someone rang me today to change my pay as you go plan. They said it would be cheaper and I’d get more data. I was paying £15 a month but they said it would change to £11. She said to turn my phone off and back on and it would’ve changed over automatically and I didn’t have to pay anything. Now my mobile data is not working at all. I have turned my phone off and back on multiple times and it is still not working.

Yes that seems to be what has happened. Now no data for another day.

it is likely the call you received was fraudulent, if you get a call out of the blue you should not provide: personal information, passwords, access codes, instead you should press red (the end call button)

If you have indeed been mis-sold a conversion to pay-monthly, you have a statutory 14days "change of mind" right of return on any distance sale. The issue could be in exercising this right should the third party caller not co-operate.

EE CS may be able to intervene, but you'd need to be clear on what's happened.
