EE APN Settings: Where to find them

Hi there,

For APN settings please see our dedicated Help page at https://ee.co.uk/help/mobile/fix-problem/Managing-APN-settings.

This Help page will give you the link to download the correct APN settings for your device. It will also give you a step-by-step guide for the most modern devices.

Below is a list of EE APN settings for manual input if you need them.

iPhone

You cannot update/change APN settings on an iPhone as these are locked out by the network and are updated via carrier updates.

Android

The settings option may differ depending on the device you are using,

Go to Settings.
Go to More.
Go to Mobile Networks.
Go to Access Point Names (APN).
Go to Menu.

At this point, you should insert a new APN for EE. Use the following.

Name: EE internet
APN: everywhere
Proxy: Not Required
Port: Not Required
Username: eesecure
Password: secure
Server: Not Required
MMSC: http://mms/

MMS proxy: 149.254.201.135
MMS port: 8080
MCC: 234
MNC: 30
Authentication type: Not Required or use the default value shown.

Then Save the settings. You'll then need to restart your phone. Please test if it has worked by trying to send an MMS.

Windows Phone

Go to Settings.
Go to Network and Wireless.
Go to Mobile+Sim.
Go to Sim Settings.
Choose + add an Internet APN.

Fill in the following fields.

Profile name: EE Internet

APN: everywhere

Username: eesecure

Password: secure

Tick the box next to 'Use this APN for LTE' and tap Save.

Choose + add an Internet APN

Fill in the following fields.

Profile name: EE MMS

APN: eezone

Username: eesecure

Password: secure

Proxy server: 149.254.201.135

Proxy Port: 8080

MMSC URL: http://mms/

Maximum MMS size: 1048576

Press Save and restart your phone.

Blackberry

Go to Settings.
Go to Network Connections.
Go to Mobile Network.
Choose APN.
Select Mobile Plan Selector.
Choose Contract or Prepay.

Fill in the following fields then press Save.

Access Point Name: everywhere

Username: eesecure

Password: secure

Go to Settings.
Go to Text Messages.
Go to Advanced.
Scroll past the SMS settings and find the APN Settings.

Fill in the following fields then Save and restart your phone.

APN Settings:

APN: eezone

Username: eesecure

Password: secure

MMSC Settings:

MMSC URL: http://mms/

Proxy URL: 149.253.201.135:8080

Nokia

Go to Menu.
Go to Configuration.
Go to Personal Settings.
Choose Web.
Press Account Name. Fill in EE Interent. Tap OK.
Press Homepage. Fill in http://m.google.com. Tap OK.
Press use pref.acc.pt then tap no.
Press acc point sett > bearer settings.
Choose pack. data acc. pt then type in everywhere and tap OK.
Press username then type in eesecure and tap OK.
Press password then type in secure and tap OK.
Press the back button three times to go back to the network list.
Press and hold the name EE Internet and then press activate.
Press the back button.
Choose def. config. sett and press personal config > default.
Press the back button twice more and get back to the Home screen.
Find and choose the menu option on the Home screen.
Choose configuration.
Choose personal settings.
Choose options.
Now choose add new.
Choose multimedia msg. These settings will let you send picture messages.
Choose account name, type in EE MMS, then choose OK.
Choose server address, type in http://mms/ and choose OK.
Choose use pref. acc. pt and Choose no.
Choose acc point sett.
Choose proxy, then Choose enable.
Choose proxy address and type in 149.254.201.135, and choose OK.
Choose proxy port, type in 8080 and choose OK.
Choose bearer settings.
Choose pack. data acc. pt, type in eezone and choose OK.
Choose username, type in eesecure, and choose OK.
Choose password, type in secure, and choose OK.
Press the back button three times to return to the list of networks.
Press and hold on to the network name, EE MMS, then choose activate.
Choose the back button.
Choose def. config. sett. and then choose personal config.
Choose default.
Press the back button twice, which will take you back to the Home screen.

Users of a VPN might find the following of use.

If you're tethering to your phone's mobile connection from a PC or Mac and if you use a VPN service, then you might run into problems.

The default EE connection used IPv6 whenever possible, but many VPN packages have difficulty with this and only work with IPv4. What you have to do in this case is create and use an APN that restricts itself to IPv4.

The following instructions will work on a recent Android phone. If someone would like to chip in and give the same instructions for fruitphone, that would be most welcome.

Go into Settings > Connections > Mobile networks > Access Point Names

Tap on "Add" at the top-right and provide the following information (note that "Not set" or "Unspecified" means you should leave the setting alone at its default for a new APN):

Name: IPv4 (it's freeform but this makes most sense)
APN: everywhere
Proxy: Not set
Port: Not set
Username: eesecure
Password: secure
Server: Not set
MMSC: Not set
MMS proxy: not set
MMS port: Not set
MCC: 234
MNC: 30
Authentication type: PAP
APN type: Internet
APN protocol: IPv4
APN roaming protocol: IPv4/IPv6
Bearer: Unspecified
Mobile virtual network operator type: Not set

The APN roaming protocol setting allows you to still use IPv6 while roaming. The fact that it won't work with a VPN while tethered doesn't matter because you can't tether while roaming anyway.

Once you've finished, click on the 3 vertical dots menu and select "Save". Done. You now have an APN that will allow your VPN service to work. When you need it, just go back to this same settings page and tap on "IPv4". Your connection will drop for a couple of seconds and then re-establish itself with the IPv4 APN. You can now activate "Mobile hotspot" and use the connection through your VPN service.

I have Huawei b900-230 4g router but the apn settings are limited only to name username password, if I ring EE amd ask them to stop ipv6 for my sim would it work? I'm having issue to connect my home monitoring cameras and Alexa to the network I guess that might be the reason.

@XRaySpeX Some devices and VPNs don't play nice with IPv6 and don't fall back to IPv4 for some reason. It could have something to do with this. It's the very reason why I had to create a new APN that was IPv4 only and posted the details in this thread.

Yes, they can connect to the Wi-fi but don't get internet access, when I change to another sim there is no issue. Somewhere I spotted that some EE sims and Huawei routers aren't the best" friends, don't know if it's true or not.

This is not helpful ONLY to VPN users... I have been attempting to use a (vanilla, unlocked) Huwaei 5G CPE Pro 2 router (H122-373) with a new 5G EE data SIM, and results have been only partial.

Some websites just would not open. I could get to Google but not Bing, for example. And my wife was unable to RDP into work over her employer's VPN. It seemed to be entirely random.

I could not find anything online about the problem until I stumbled upon this. But disabling IPv6 seems to have done the trick. My sincere thanks.

This worked for my OUKITEL WP12 Pro Android phone. This was after spending hours on the phone with EE technical support and resetting the phone to factory defaults. Then saw this gave it a try and worked like a dream

Hi - thanks for this really useful post.

Do you know how it's possible to get a 'carrier update' for my EE APN settings on my iPhone ?

I have a work EE SIM (business/commercial) which uses their own dedicated APN. I now use this SIM in my iPhone (on a dual SIM setup alongside my personal device). It works for phone calls/SMS, but not for data, presumably as it has the 'wrong' APN settings.

Data works fine on my other SIM in the phone (Vodafone eSIM) but not on the EE SIM. However as you say above, you cannot edit the APN settings on iPhone.

Is there any way I can get EE to trigger new carrier settings for the corporate APN ? I've asked our ICT dept and they say to talk to EE. But EE customer services can't help as it's a corporate account, and EE corporate say it's something that my ICT dept needs to sort !!

Not the end of the world as it works fine for calls/texts, but thought I'd ask for people's wisdom. I have the APN settings, and the SIM works fine for data with those settings in an Android phone, or on my iPad (which does let you set APN settings), but not on my iPhone.

@Jonathanw2 : Usually when you do a manual search of Network Operators & then select EE from the offered list it will refresh the APN.

Thanks - I think the issue might be that the APN settings I need are different to the standard EE APN settings. It's the APN for our corporate systems.
