Connecting to EE when "Out and about"

Hi,

When i am in a coffee shop or wherever, i obviously dont have my EE mobile router with me, (I have a Broadband account with EE). Though my laptop detects a local area EE internet when i'm out in town.

How can i log on to this, or can't i?

Presumably i dont have to pay anything as i already pay EE for my mobile router account.?

I think you are referring to the EE WiFi public network. You may only connect to that for free when you have fixed New EE Home BB. Mobile BB doesn't count. Otherwise you need to pay the rates advertised on that page.

Hi,

I actually managed to log on to EE Wifi anyway, (without paying) when i was in greggs in Bournemouth...so i guess that was some fake EE Wifi?....most likely from some scammers?

Possibly or it might be down. This is why it is important to use a VPN on unfamiliar networks.

Thanks, now i am in greggs in Poole, and i have just logged on to "EE Wifi"...it didnt take any money from me....is it a fake one? Its 1539hrs on 28th april 2026.

How can i check if its fake?

I am on it now...writing this post on that wifi.

It didnt ask me for any details. No username, no password, nothing.

I guess its fake?

Might it have virus'd my laptop?

@treez Greggs like many other places offer a free WiFi service for customers, it is not the same as the paid for EE WiFi. Like McDonalds and many pubs, it is an open service so you would be wise to take precautions, and not share sensitive information over their network.

@treez You can check for nearby hotspots using our page here if you wanted to check if there was one nearby the Greggs you were in.

The URL in your screenshot looks like a legitimate one, it should typically ask you to login using your EEID when accessing EE WiFi hotspots, but this one may be the type @Mustrum described.

Though most public WiFi is secure its still best to avoid accessing sensitive information on your phone or downloading anything whilst on that network to help keep your device secure. As long as you have done that you won't have much to worry about.

Hi Thanks, ive now payed the £39 so i can access the "outdoor" EE WIFI when i'm out around town...but i cant seem to access it in either Bornemouth or Poole.....do you know where the EE wifi hotspots are in Bournemouth or Poole?

I was near dead centre of Bournemouth today but couldnt log in to the EE wifi even though i have payed the £39 for one month...i payed it last week.

Using the link for the EE WiFi public network, click on Find a Hotspot & Search for Bournemouth or Poole. I see them @ EE Store, HSBC & a BT Streethub, all on Commercial Rd.
