i have found that EE, whilst providing good mobile broadband service, it thinks by entering the mobile phone number of the mobile router sim, that i will be able to read a message or pass code/key. I do not have an EE phone, just mobile broadband since 2019.

@Biffo1960 : & so you can! Most mobile routers can receive texts & reply to them. Login to it & look for the SMS Section/Inbox.

trying to log in is not that simple, in order to fulfil authorisation i
have to give the passcode sent to my device which is a router not a phone.
I am a retired Chartered IT Professional who finds this confusing. It is
like the advice given when the mobile broadband signal fails or has an
outage and tells me to go to their website for help.

the website to log into comes up as follows

192.168.1.1 doesn't support a secure connection with HTTPS

so not secure!!!! i am not that stupid to enter information onto such a site

@Biffo1960 : You are logging into the router itself, not your EE a/c. in order to read the passcode sent by your EE a/c. No passcode is needed to login to the router.

Login to your MBB router at 192.168.1.1 with username/pwd as "admin"/"admin" or with the admin password found under the battery cover.

my top of the range security software says not, why can't the site use
https?

@Biffo1960 : Cuz it don't! You haven't even said which mobile router. It could be behind-the-times.

Sorry, can't proceed any further when you can't venture into your own router. Security s/ware allow you to specify exceptions.

CUZ? I use symantec enterprise software, and it doesn't allow me to add some none https sites. BT , EE's parent prides itself on security, so surprised EE doesn't adopt similar attitudes. I follow advice from the NCSC in the UK for advice, I am wrong to do so?

So i had better visit a physical EE shop I suppose

simple information sheet should be given to all customers

@Biffo1960 , why not switch off your security system so that you can do so, also make sure that your router has the latest software, otherwise we cannot give you anymore advice, or borrow someone else’s phone and put your SIM card in there to receive the message/passcode.

thank, i use a screen reader because of my disability, so thank you. That
is also the reason i queried the use of CUZ as my screen reader couldn't
understand it.
