5G Router Flashing but Internet (sorta) Working?

Got my 5G Hub today, and it has been flashing aqua for the past hour despite resets. I am able to connect both my phone and my PC to it, however, and I am getting an OK-ish signal and equally OK-ish speeds that are very inconsistent (varying between 10-50mbps). What is it that I need to do in order to establish the connection that will stop it flashing and to get the most out of it speed and stability wise?

It is by a window, and I have checked a few locations whilst looking at the bars on the http://192.168.1.1/ site and it seems to be in the best spot I can find. I have also tried switching between the 4G/5G freqs to see which is better, and settled on the Auto mode. On another note, I have tried to use the Ethernet port for my PC and it doesn't seem to be working - the guide that came with the router seems to suggest I should be able to plug it in via ethernet and for everything to sort of resolve naturally but I've had no joy.

Happy to supply more info once I know what will be of help - thanks in advance!

If it's flashing it shouldn't be connecting to anything.

Well, that's what I thought! But honest to god, I am only able to send this reply via the hub itself and it absolutely is still flashing. 😅

Hi @amontilladowo,

Welcome to the EE Community 🙂

Is it flashing between aqua and no light at all or between aqua and white/another colour? As flashing between aqua and no light would, as @XRaySpeX suggested, means its still trying to connect to the internet, whereas you seem to be able to connect OK.

If its flashing between aqua and white that just means you have a text message. This can be accessed by logging into the router admin page you linked above and going to Status>SMS inbox

It is this model of router you have? Smart 5G Hub| Pay Monthly 5G Mobile Broadband | EE If so have you tried both Ethernet ports on the router to your PC? Or tried an Ethernet connection to another device to confirm if it may just be the PC or any device.

Alex

It was indeed a text message 😅 I had set it to forward to my phone and received a couple, so didn't think to check the original mailbox, so thank you!

On the matter of the Ethernet, that is indeed the model I have - the 5G AC powered hub to be precise. Unfortunately I don't have anything else that I can connect via the cable and my PC only has one Ethernet port!

So I have had the same thing. We worked out it was text messages from EE - and they're all techy gobbledeegook and they come in every few minutes so the hub is constantly flashing. The question is now - how do you turn off

The text messages, or

The notification flashing?

Thanks - its annoying isnt it!
