Yes, no FTTP & you're getting as good as you can get from FTTC (VDSL).

Hi there,

I recently (about 35 days ago) entered into a TV and broadband contract with EE. As luck would have it, 5G has just been enabled in my area and I'm 200m from the mast (I can see it from my bedroom window). I live rurally, and so the best broadband speeds I get with FTTC is about 30mbps down and 3 or so mbps up. I've been trying speed tests on 5G on my EE mobile (inside the house), and I can get 80mbps down and 15 up. I work in technology (and do a fair bit of uploading) and we have a few devices / TVs streaming etc, so having the additional speed would be really great.

I've just spoke to someone at EE, who said that there's nothing they can do because I'm a) in contract and b) my FTTC speed is over 10mbps. It just seems daft that I want to stay with EE, but just switch to EE 5G and maintain the other, existing contracts (TV, mobile, etc.). To cancel my contract now would cost me > £1000, so definitely not worth it.

I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced this and if they'd been able to switch?

Thanks

You can't just switch from fixed Home BB to mobile BB while in contract. They are independent products & diff technologies.

What does BT Wholesale Broadband Availability Checker estimate for your phone number? Post just the whole table and the line above it, blanking out your phone number. If it doesn't recognise your phone number or you don't have one, use the Address Checker.

Thank you both for your replies. Completely understand the logic just very frustrating - particularly given how near the start of the contract I am!

Here's the table as requested @XRaySpeX, not looking too promising for FTTP 😂
