topic The Old Echo Dot chestnut - has anyone actually resolved it? in Mobile Broadband

New EE 4G Smart Hub set up yesterday. Delighted with the download speeds and connecting the Macbook, Samsung Mobile and Samsung TV a real doddle. All good so far. Then I tried to connect smart devices (Echo dots x 4, Tapo camera and two Tapo Smart Sockets) and absolutely no luck. The Tapo stuff picked up the wifi but insisted the password was incorrect - which it wasn't - and presumably the Echo dots did the same but all they would do is hang with no feedback.

I have managed to link the hub to my account (what a pain that was) but the mobile app still isn't showing it and all I have on the Broadband or mobile tiles is 'Get' - I've already 'Got' but it won't flipping work!!

I've seen a load of these threads before and have tried most of the suggested solutions. We love the speed of the hub but are just about to action the 14 day cool off withdrawl if we can't get the smart devices to connect.

Does anyone have a suitable solution please?

@Mustrum @shockwave Anyone?

We've tried on 2.4gHz only and that doesn't work either.

@Richurst I am not familiar with the 4G Smart Hub so can't help with specifics.

However, with the 2.4Ghz band only on, is there any other options, either Mode, or Security?

If so, reducing the security to WPA2 for example, or also if Mode is an option then that can also help.

If I remember the Echo's are changed via the App, so you have to be close to connect via Bluetooth and on the WiFi you want to connect the Echo to.

HTH

Hi @Richurst

You might need to reset and reconnect the echo dots but they do need a permanent connection. The same sort your other tape equipment, delete from the app, reset and reconnect.

The best option is to just set your new router SSID to the same name and password as your last, everything should then connect automatically.

Thanks

Have tried again with 0nly 2.4GHz but same hanging
response from the Dot - even though I was two feet away and the dot and the
phone were clearly talking to each other. As soon as it got to entering the
password, it struggled and the Alexa app simply says let's try something
else... none of which work.

Pics attached re security options pre/post drop down box. I can't see
anything that strikes me as obvious.

If you can see anything obvious please, do shout.

Thanks again.

Is there another option under AES, or have you tried the WPA.WPA2 option?
