topic EE mobile broadband speed in rural location - getting up to 100Mbps off peak in Mobile Broadband

Recently installed EE mobile broadband due to poor landline broadband.

I'm in a rural location, signal shows only two bars strength on router. When I check speeds off peak and if I select a local server for a speed test (Ookla Speedtest app + 1 other ) I can sometimes get speeds around 100Mbps+ which seems very high - but very nice.

I WFH so speed is important. I've tried other providers and typically only get ~20Mbps up/~9Mbps down.

I just wanted to check this high speed sounds right or are the speed apps giving spurious results. The normal browsing speed is ok but don't feel super fast/instant. I'm not a gamer.

Please let me know your thoughts thanks

SJM

The on-screen bars are a measure of signal strength, not of capacity or speed.

There's multiple speed test sites available, sometimes the results can vary depending on the location of the server, and the resultant routing. Ookla is generally one of the more reliable.
