Hello,

I've recently moved house and the signal is atrocious here (I'm with EE), can't make calls, send messages etc unless I stand at the very front of the house by the window. I've been a EE customer for a while, but they don't offer a high speed fibre service at my address. Only Hyper Optic offer a 1gb speed package so I set up an account with them and ordered broadband, but they are struggling to install the fibre cables to our house. Its been weeks and its affecting my work, therefore I am on the brink of giving up.

From my previous property, we utilised a EE 4G hub rather than a WIFI box and inserted a sim. I've still got the hub, so my question is, if I buy a EE sim and set the hub up again, will this help my signal in the house? Or as the signal is shocking, will this mean the 4g sim hub will be useless too (as I believe it uses the 4G EE network, which is rubbish here) and I should just wait for HyperOptic to install fibre?

Could be a silly question, as I assume if the EE signal is awful in the house, setting up a 4G hub won't help, but I'd like some confirmation if anyone could help!

Thanks in advance!

Adam

Some 4G/5G hubs allow for wireless antennas to be used so you could try this if possible? Searching the forum will bring up some topics on this.

Sorry can’t edit my post, didn’t mean wireless antennas, was supposed to be “external antennas”.

Thanks, I will look into this. Quickly, do you mean antennas external to the hub and clip / attach onto the hub or external to the building and would link to the hub somehow?

Generally they would be located outside the building with the antenna connecting to the hub by cable.

I’m not familiar with the EE 4G hubs so not even sure if they are capable however when searching this forum it seemed like this was a service EE used to offer. It might be worth a call to customer services to see if they can do anything?
