Hi

Is there anyway to bypass the NAT with an EE sim? I have tried on two different routers, both trying port forward and UPNP enabled. But nothing seems to make any difference.

I am using the Zyxel NR5130e, and have even tried turning off the NAT option or just using IPv6 - but as soon as either or clicked the internet is offline immediatlely.

Should i stop looking for a solution and just accept that i will have strict (type3) NAT on the Xbox and PS5?

Thanks

You are finding yourself up against a limitation of EE's mobile network. The EE mobile network uses Carrier Grade NAT (CGNAT) resulting in a double NAT, which games consoles often object to, which means you don't get your own public IP address but share it with other users. So you can't be uniquely id'ed on the Net & therefore your LAN cannot be addressed from outside for unsolicited accesses. This is unlike fixed BB.

If this occurs there is nowt you can do to avoid it.

Hi

thanks so much for the reply. looks like i will have to live with the strict NAT 😞

i noticed on another forum you suggested changing to ipv6. I have the option to do that on the router, but when i do the internet instanly goes offline

is there a reason for that? should doing that work as it would take away the NAT options

Try IPv4 only.

ipv4 only works fine - but comes with the strict NAT. Was hoping switching to ipv6 would lose the NAT problem. But as soon as i switch the internet drops off completely and all goes offline

Nowt will kill the double NAT. It is implicit in EE's employment of CGNAT.
