I am currently away from home and have a TP Link MR6400 wifi modem and an EE card. On Day 1 of being away I put the card in the modem and it worked perfectly, until some point in the early afternoon when it stopped working. By stopping working I mean I can connect by wifi to the modem but the modem does not connect to the internet.

Initially I thought it was just a poor signal, but now I think that there is something more serious wrong. Here is what I have done so far to try to diagnose the problem:

1. Tested the SIM card in both an iphone and a Nokia phone - in both cases the phones connect to the internet with the SIM card

2. Tried a Vodafone SIM in the modem - no connection achieved

3. Created a manual profile on the modem using the following information:

PDP Type - IPv4

APN Type - Static

APN - everywhere

Authentication Type - PAP

Username - eesecure

Password - secure

None of this works. The Tether app and the management pages just imply I am in a poor reception area.

Am I right in thinking that the modem has gone wrong or are there any other bright ideas I could try to get this working?

Thanks in advance,

Rob

Hi @Robert_C

Welcome to the community.

Are you within the UK at the moment? It sounds from your description that the SIM is active and working. Where did you get the router from and when?

Yes, I'm within the UK. The modem was bought off ebuyer back in March 2022.

I agree the SIM is active and working as putting it in a phone allows it to pick up a 4G signal.

As far as I can see, it looks like you have your settings set up correctly, @Robert_C

Out of interest, which other options are you given for 'APN type'?

That's interesting, @Robert_C.

I know that the mobile network uses dynamic IP, but I'm not sure if that affects the access point.
