I've just switched from ADSL to 5GEE home broadband and facing some issues getting my Arlo security cameras to work.

There are 2 cameras which connect wirelessly to an Arlo SmartHub which is connected to the 5GEE router via ethernet cable. The issue seems to be that every few minutes the connection is lost resulting in the cameras going offline and then coming back on. All other devices connected are remain connected and all seems stable. The signal strength doesn't look to be an issue either.

I've had a search around the community and it seems others have had similar issues but I can't see a clear solution - are there any settings I can change to prevent the connection from dropping off? I've seen CGNAT being mentioned a few times but I'm not too sure what that means or if it should be adjusted.

Would be a shame to have to return the product as speeds are far greater than what I was getting previously however if I can't get the security cameras to work I'll have to 😥

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi, did you manage to find a solution to this? I've just switched to the 5GEE router and getting the same issues when connecting the Arlo SmartHub to it.

Hi, don't suppose you could share how you got the Arlo cameras to work with the router? I've just switched to 5GEE from adsl and the Arlo SmartHub disconnects every few minutes.

Thanks!

Largely the issue is resolved, it was down to the EE mobile signal. EE did some work in the mobile mast nearby and the issue mostly went away.

Hi @mark_12

Welcome to the community.

CGNAT means that you don't have a fixed IP address, it can change, which can sometimes cause problems with devices that aren't designed to use it.

A fixed line broadband connection would definitely be more stable and compatible with a wider range of devices.

Ah ok, thank you for clarifying!

Is it possible to create a fixed IP address or is that just how 5G internet/routers work?

Our Mobile Network only uses CGNAT, @mark_12, there isn't an option to change it to a fixed IP. That's something your get with our Home Broadband packages.

You don't get a static public IP on fixed Home BB either but at least the dynamic public IP you do get is not shared with others.

Long shot, could be the Camera Software is trying to use an IPV6 Connection, try this -

Login into the Routers Admin WebUI, create an additional APN Profile in the Routers Profile APN Settings, copy the existing APN details across but set the IPV Settings to IPV4 Only and set the Authentication to PAP, save the New Profile, set it as Default then Reboot the Router, at the Same time Reboot ALL the Devices connected to the Router via WiFi including any Devices using Ethernet plus any related Software, try and do all this while the Router is Re Booting.

Still couldn't get this working after numerous chats with EE technical support. The final suggestion was to purchase a separate router which I wasn't prepared to do so I've returned it and reverted back to a fixed line.
