Using mobile data abroad

Hi my contact has finished and any new contacts only offer 50gb of data for Europe usage. This isn’t enough for me and will have to look at another provider if ee can’t offer me anything else not advertised. I need at least 100 a month when I’m travelling around Europe

@Trev63 You can purchase more data if you require it. All networks have a FUP when roaming.

Sim only paid monthly. I had to switch from BT to EE and would like to know why I couldn’t use my data in Portugal, as there is a reciprocal agreement. At first it worked and then stopped, it was a nightmare as the accommodation we were staying in was saved in Google Maps. I was unable to get onto anything that used data. Locals did not know the name of the apartment. We arrived at night so everything was unfamiliar. I have checked my data and out of 20gb I have over 17 left. We are back abroad in May and would like to be able to use my data. I never had this problem with BT. Please advise.

I am sorry to hear you were unable to use your data whilst in Portugal but I hope this did not stop you enjoying your holiday.

Did you activate roaming before leaving the UK? this could have either been done by giving us a call or texting ROAMING to 150?

If yes, were you able to make calls and texts OK?

No I didn’t I thought that was old news activating roaming. I certainly never did it with BT. I assumed moving from BT that everything would work the same.
As I understand it, I reached my £5 limit and was charged even though I had plenty of data.

Hi @Georgiaplum.

Roaming will need to be enabled before leaving the UK, once this has been done you can leave it as enabled on your account so you won't need to do it every time you travel.

I would also recommend upping your spend cap when you travel to the set amount that will cover you for your roaming passes.
