hi thanks for your reply yes the EE 5G outdoor router where the ethernet cable connects to has a plate fitted to ethernet port on the cable and im not sure if the plate clips away from the ethernet cable or not to allow access to only drill a small hole or would i need a large one to get the plate through

hi mate im looking at the same outdoor router could i ask what diameter hole needs to be drilled in the wall to feed the ethernet cable through as both ends of the ethernet cable that screws to the bottom of the router looked like solid parts where i thought the cable would possibly pull out of the part that attaches to the router but im a bit lost thanks

The Connector width is just a tad under 12mm (11.6 from memory) so if it's going through a short solid, like wood or plastic window frame then a 12.5mm Drill Bit should do it, for Brick, Breeze or Concere add a couple of mm as the Drill Bit never drills a perfect hole, 14mm should work, or possibly 16mm if it going to be a fiddly cavity spaced wall.

Tape the plugs Locking Lever down with tape before you start pulling it through in case it gets stuck and you need to pull it back, otherwise your break the Lever and or damaged or stress the connections in the Plug (your see what I mean when you have it in your hands).

The way I normally do stuff like is by using proper Push Rods then a Cord / Wire then the Target Cable all tapped to together, in the absence of Push Rods you could use the long Drill Bit, but don't tape the Target Cable to the Drill Bit, use a Cord or Wire to the Drill Bit then the Cable to the Cord, safest way if it snags and it won't end in tears thar way 😉

OK, in the absense of Pics, I think I understand what you mean, there is some extra Plate / Weather Proofing Cover or something that screws into the Outside Device, in that case just work backwards, so the Cable End withe the Cover stays outside then pull the other end (just a Cable and Plug) back into where your internal Router Device and POE Power Supply is located.

So in a nutshell something like this, Outdoors - Outer Router Device + Wearher protected Ethernet Cable, is then fed Inside, to the Indoor POE Power Supply Brick, then the smaller Ethernet Cable is fed from the POE PSU Brick and plugs into your Indoor Router which you locate for best WiF Reception and this Device has its own Power Supply, if that all makes sense.

Try and get the Outdoor unit as high as possible on a pole Mast or something rather that bolting it to the side of the Van. Ideally you will need to point the Outdoor Device to you best EE Mast (I can probably help you where to point it if you PM you Vans Postcode) .

Out of interest does your Static Van not have a Service Hole or Remade Service Entrence underneath somewhere.

OK, you mentioned ZTE MC 7010 (know it well) but just to confirm EE don't use the 7010, the EE Router will be an Outdoor Askey Device, but the overall type of Device is simular so just treat the Installation as similar, apart from the EE Outdoor Router will have its own Indoor Device (also an Askey), unless you have sourced the Outdoor Device on its own without the Paired indoor Router Device (let's hope not).
