I only need a data only sim card.... I have registered but I cannot get further... now going down Tesco to get one as would be easier than this!

You'll find it better, cheaper & more data to get either;

A PAYG phone SIM from EE rather than a data SIM.
An EE Connected Data SIM from the likes of Amazon. EE doesn't sell them directly.
