4G or 5G router

Hi, I am moving to the postcode SS5 4UA and checked the fibre broadband and seems to be the lower end speed wise. So been looking at the 5g home broadband router. The area I am going to on the map says good in and outdoor on the 4g, and the yellow for outdoor 5g is almost there. Is it best to get the 5GEE router with some outdoor antenna in hope to get the 5g and for the future, or is that router not good for picking up the 4g signal, and best in going for the 4g router and waiting till 5g is there in and outdoors

As regards to the 4G via the broadband router, what will be able to be done using the speed from that - gaming, hd streaming, reliable for connection for 2 people working from home

Sorry if the questions seem strange or confused - just don't want to get something in and it is totally the wrong thing to have and wasted money etc

Hi @clayrisk

The 5G routers will pick up 4G too, but will use 5G as preference where available. Mobile routers are brilliant for most services, however, gaming services tend to prefer a fixed line broadband.

If you take out a pay monthly plan through the website or over the phone, you will have a 14 day return period if you're not happy with the performance.

Another tech question, I have powerlines in current house, would these still work by plugging in via one of the ethernet slots on the 5G router, and solve the gaming on a fixed line?

It's more about the static IP address that you get with fixed line broadband, @clayrisk. Our Mobile Broadband uses dynamic IP.

@Christopher_G : You don't get a fixed public IP with EE Home BB. For some reason you seem to keep implying this except you keep calling it "static". I think you are mixing it up with the internal private IPs of your devices which with most home routers you can make static & have no influence on the BB connection.
