I just recieved my new 2021 5g router and sim, which I hooked up straight away and manage to connect my phone and tv without issue using the password over WiFi.

My venerable desktop, now win 10, valiantly attempted to connect via wifi but the router has rejected every connection attempt. Manually entered passwords rejected, WPS key attempts failed... I can't use a wired connection because the win10 upgrade removed the LAN adapter.

EE Telephone support has blamed Windows and suggested I call Microsoft. But I haven't had any issues with my previous Huawei B535 router (from Three) and it connected right back up when I finished the call. Zyxel support referred me back to EE.

The only change is the router, logically it's a problem with router, but what. Anyone got any ideas.

Cheers, Max

Welcome to the EE Community. 🙂

Which error message do you see when trying to connect?

Hi James_b,

It was 'password not accepted' about 20 times, also 'something has changed since you last connected, we need some more information' with a password prompt.

Very confusing, and I spent another hour or two on web chat in the evening. Same deal, it's your PC, go to the device manager on your PC. Mess around with your network adapter...

I had been told on the phone that I wouldn't be able to log into the router from my mobile, but I got so frustrated that I tried it and guess what, I hesitantly changed a few settings and after a bit of trial and error got it working. I'll post the solution seperately.
